For those who are unfamiliar with the character or curious as to how I'm playing him: Cid is, by all perspectives, a mad scientist. He's very intelligent and very ambitious, and the combination of mild sociopathic tendencies and the ability and willingness to manipulate people when he wants/needs to make him a rather frightening person if you happen to get in his way. Or are especially useful to him for whatever reason. Otherwise, he'll probably be perfectly cordial, and maybe even helpful. If someone knows what is good for them, they will not confuse the politeness for favor or friendship; there are very few people Cid has or ever will care about. He won't go out of his way to do harm, unless, of course, he has reason to, and when he does, it tends to be under the grand delusion that whatever harm he causes is a necessary sacrifice, and that he's overall doing something good. He also tends to be generally inattentive to people's emotions, including those of the people he actually does care about (which is most of what led to the massive falling out he had with his son).

Overall, he's a villain who is not exactly evil. I just think he would generally agree with Stalin's quote: "One dead man is a tragedy. A hundred is a statistic."
